This easy to make honey chilli chicken recipe is a firm family favourite, and the sauce makes it very moreish!
For the sauce you will need:
3 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp honey
1 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce
Tomato ketchup
100 ml water
1 tbsp white wine vinegar
For the Honey Chilli Chicken you will need:
2 tbsp cornflour
2 cloves garlic
⅛ tsp (Pinch) of white pepper - optional
¼ tsp salt
4 chicken breasts
Vegetable or sunflower oil
2 cloves of garlic - crushed
1 red chilli - de-seeded and chopped or ½ tsp chilli powder
2 large red or green peppers - cut into bite-sized pieces
2 onions
To serve you will need:
2 spring onions/scallions - thinly sliced
Toasted sesame seeds
Method:
Mix the sauce ingredients together in a small jug or bowl and set aside.
Mix the cornflour/ and white pepper in a medium-sized bowl that is large enough to hold the chicken pieces.
Place the chicken pieces in the bowl and mix with your hands until they are evenly coated with the flour mixture
Spray chicken pieces with oil and place into the drawer of airfryer and ensure they are spread out.
Cook at 190.0c for 5 minutes and then turn over and cook for 5 more minutes.
Repeat with remaining chicken
Remove, set aside when it is crispy on the outside and cooked in the middle.
In a frying pan fry the chilli, garlic and ginger for 1-2 minutes until fragrant and add the onions and peppers and fry for a few minutes until they begin to soften.
Add the sauce into the frying pan,add chicken pieces mix well and put this all into the airfryer for 3 more minutes at 180.0c
Serve immediately with rice, topped with spring onions and toasted sesame seeds.
